GAME

GAME

The tile puzzle from 1995, made new with love for iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Vision Pro and Android.

Try it here

Tap a group. Watch it go.

Two or more touching tiles of the same kind make a group. Tap one and it clears; the tiles above fall into the gap, and empty columns close up.

Score 0 Hover or hold a tile to see its group.

How to play

Simple to learn. Hard to master.

  1. Find a group

Tiles touching side by side or one above the other count. Corners don't.

  2. Tap to clear it

Bigger groups score far more: a pair is worth 2, a group of ten is worth 74.

  3. Clear whole kinds

Every kind you clear completely pays a bonus, and each one doubles the last.

  4. Keep one kind for last

Save a kind while the others come together. That's how the board gets cleared.

Scored the 1995 way

Every tile left costs you a point.

So a game starts below zero, at minus the tiles on the board, and climbs as you clear them. It's how the original IBM game kept score, read straight from its code.

A group of n tiles adds n² − 3n + 4. Undo as often as you like, for 10 points each. Your high scores show how many undos they took.

Play it everywhere

Apple Vision Pro

A little world on your table.

On Apple Vision Pro, GAME sets up a small stage wherever you like. Clouds drift across a folded paper sky, and cleared tiles tumble off the board.

The characters you clear come to life on the grass: tulips grow, chicks scurry about, and the dog naps by its kennel until it spots one.

Thirty years in the making

From a 1995 palmtop to your pocket.

  1. 1995

    The original

GAME first appeared in PersonaWare on IBM's PC110, a tiny palmtop computer sold in Japan. It had tiles, a magic potion, and a pet dog in the corner.

  2. 2014

    The iPhone game that waited

Redrawn for iPhone and iPad with a chick, a frog, a tulip, an orange and a kennel, then put away before it was ever released.

  3. 2026

    Released at last

Built from the ground up for every screen and released for the first time, with the 1995 scoring restored, lessons for new players, and a table-top world on Apple Vision Pro.
