What it is
GAME Baby is for children of about 12 months to 3 years, made from the frogs, chicks, dogs and sounds of GAME. There are no rules to learn, no words to read, no score, no timer and no way to lose: every touch makes something happen, the moment a finger, several fingers or a whole palm lands.
The games
- Pop! Giant tiles: touch one and it pops with its neighbours, and new ones drop in.
- Peekaboo. Wooden boxes: touch one and a frog, chick or dog pops up.
- Find the Froggy. Which tile is the frog hiding behind?
- Bubbles. Bubbles float up with a critter inside; a touch anywhere pops the nearest.
- Garden. Every touch grows a tulip or an orange.
- Little GAME. GAME's own rules on a small board, for about 3 to 4 years.
Common questions
How do I change the game, the sound or the bedtime?
Hold a finger on the faint gear in the top-left corner for three seconds, then answer the sum. A toddler's touch there still plays, so the gate keeps the settings for grown-ups.
How do I stop my child leaving the app?
Turn on Guided Access: Settings, Accessibility, Guided Access. Then, in GAME Baby, triple-click the side or top button to start it, and again to end it.
Can my child play on the TV?
Yes. Start Screen Mirroring to an Apple TV from Control Centre, or connect an HDMI adapter, and GAME Baby shows the game big on the TV while your child plays on the iPhone or iPad. Start it before Guided Access, which hides Control Centre.
Why is there no sound?
The ring/silent switch (or the Action button's silent mode) silences GAME Baby, as it does other games, and so does the Sound switch in the grown-ups' settings. A crossed-out speaker beside the gear means the Sound switch is off.
The animals have fallen asleep. How do I wake them?
That is bedtime, set in the grown-ups' settings: after the time you choose, the animals yawn and fall asleep, and stay asleep however much they are touched. Open the settings from the corner and choose Wake the animals, or set Bedtime to Off.
